What's the difference between theatrical composition and sound design? Curt and Chris says, it's the integration of the two that make a complete musical theatre experience - from the rumble of thunder to the sound of licking flames. While they agree on the definition, their sounds are very different.

Curt Powell received an MA in Performance Studies from Northwestern University. His first musical, Fairways, co-written with Mary Hutchings-Reed, enjoyed a sell-out engagement at the Steel Beam Theatre in St. Charles in 2006. An accomplished musician and vocalist, Curt has performed with rock, R&B, and jazz groups. His original sound designs and themes have been featured in a number of productions including Art, Dinner with Friends, and most recently, the original stage production of The Thunderbolt Kid. Curt's work has been heard in theatres from Washington, DC, Iowa, Texas, California, and Illinois to New York. His musical direction and conductor credits include productions of Tommy, Jesus Christ Superstar, Annie, Big the Musical, Honk!, Secret Garden, and The Mikado. In 2006, Mr. Powell was recipient of a special grant from the Illinois Arts Council for Fairways.

All works by Curt Powell are registered with BMI and distributed under agreement with Endpoint Publishing, Chicago, IL.

Chris Powell is working on his BA in Music Performance at the University of Northern Iowa.
